Taejaan Whippets and Siberian Huskies

Our aim is to breed and exhibit healthy, happy and sound youngsters/adults from the breeds we are associated with. Our puppies are country bred, house reared, and are well socialised throughout their weaning period up until they go off to their new homes. All puppies are well adjusted and then grow up to be loving pets and companions.

The Taejaan story began in 1973 with an Afghan Hound puppy which was a birthday gift. Although a small kennel and in those days geographically remote, we did manage to breed and finish some worthy Champions. The success included Multi Best In Show, Royal CC and Best In Group winners. The last Afghan to be shown bearing the Taejaan Prefix was the famous Ch Taejaan The Flamingo Kid owned by The Barter's who before his retirement had to his credit 70 Best In Shows.

Our first Whippet was a gift from long time friends Brian and Leokadia Wilson of Noholme Kennels.

Once NZ & Aust Ch Noholme Dawn Aptly joined our household, we knew Whippets were the breed we wished to pursue.

The Wilson's added to our family with the two half siblings, Ch Noholme Pepper Mill 'Cricket' and Ch Noholme Blue Lagoon 'Emma' (a litter sister to NZ Ch Noholme Electric Blue) - a top producer in New Zealand. These two additions plus the acquisition of Spec BIS Multi BIS Royal BIG Ch Shalique Satin Layce 'Gemma', completed what was to become the foundation of the Taejaan Whippets. The rest is history. Our dogs have won 3X Royal Best In Shows, Multiple Specialty BIS and Best In Show All Breeds. We have now bred /owned 11 Grand Champions, and 26 Individual Best In Show winners, many of these are multiple BIS winners. Our dogs have also been a strong influence/foundation for many kennels in Australia, Asia, USA and New Zealand.

We introduced the Salukis in 1988 and had much success by winning Best In Shows at Specialties and Allbreed level.

Our Siberian Husky "Wolf " Syd Royal BIS Grand Ch Illahee Summer Fun found us in 1999, and we find him to be fascinating and entertaining to say the least. So much so we now have extended our Husky family.
